Weekly Blessings: Week 21: God's Most Wanted

God morgen, og velkommen til en ny runde av "Ukens velsignelser!"
(That means: Good morning, and welcome to another installment of "Weekly Blessings!" in Norwegian.)

I was honestly going to write about something else today but at the last minute God decided to pull me in another direction.

When getting ready to write my post, God showed me a wanted poster. Have you ever seen a wanted poster before? Well if not, here's what I'm talking about:

Wanted posters are used to notify the public of a criminal that needs to be captured. Usually if you have a wanted poster, you're a pretty big deal to the authorities.

Looking at this I thought: wanted posters are only given to people that the authorities really want to catch. Doesn't this kind of work the same way with God?

God created each and every one of us that exists, existed, and will exist on this earth. He created everyone for specific purpose. Though God uses us all in different ways, we were all created to love and honor Him(Mark 12:30) However, some of us have gone astray and are running from God. May it be our sins, fear, or just ignorance of who He is, we just keep running from Him. Now, doesn't that sound like the situation of an actual criminal? A criminal commits a crime, the authorities find out, and in fear of being captured or something worse happening, they run!

That reminds me of the story of Jonah. God told Jonah specifically what He needed him to do, which was to go preach in Ninevah. Jonah knew that Ninevah was a rough and evil city and in fear, decided to flee to Tarshish. Jonah couldn't escape God; that's why he got stuck in the belly of a whale! InTouch Ministries gave a great breakdown to Jonah's escape attempt and Veggie Tales made a great animated film about it. Go check the both of them out!

First of all, God is everywhere and will do what needs to be done, so you can't escape punishment; sorry. Nonetheless, God doesn't want to harm you; He wants to love you! God wants to have a relationship with you. I don't know why you're trying so hard to escape Him; He knows where you are all the time! He's already found you. But He wants you to come willingly, He doesn't want to force you(Revelation 3:20). That's sounds a lot better than being arrested, don't you think?

Now look at that poster again. Put your face in the blank. And instead of a $10,000 reward, think eternal life, grace, forgiveness, love, and prosperity(1 John 5:13, Hebrews 13:5, Colossians 2:13-14, Galatians 5:25) .He already paid the price for you (1 Corinthians 6:20), He wants to know you and love you. God won't force anything on you or try to hurt you; all you have to do is turn yourself in(John 1:12)! Surrender your all to Him, and I promise you won't regret it. Stop running!

For you must realize that you have been ransomed from the futile way of living passed on to you by your traditions, but not by any money payment of this passing world. No, the price was, in fact, the life blood of Christ, the unblemished and unstained lamb of sacrifice. ~1 Peter 1:18-19
